TESTOSTERONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY (TRT) PROGRAM
Testosterone deficiency syndrome encompasses a wide range of symptoms.
These include:
- fatigue
- muscle weakness
- muscle cramps
- difficulty obtaining an erection
- low libido
- night sweats
- depression
- irritability
- loss of motivation
- low energy
- diminished strength and endurance
The pathophysiology of low testosterone could be due to primary hypogonadism (less common) or secondary cause such as visceral obesity, certain medications (i.e., opioids, marijuana, steroids), chronic stress, sleep dysfunction, insulin resistance, poor blood sugar control, thyroid dysfunction, and age. The most significant predictor of testosterone deficiency is central adiposity.
Testosterone replacement can have great benefits, such as improvement in mood, improved sexual function, decreased fat mass, increased muscle mass, and improvement in bone density.
If you feel you may benefit from testosterone replacement, our program includes a comprehensive assessment, metabolic and hormonal blood work, and prescription medications (these may include injectable therapies or custom compounded creams). Follow-up visits every 3 months for the first year are required and then every 6 months ongoing. Visits are not covered by OHIP.
